Sedation Dentistry

A fear of dental treatments is one of the most common forms of anxiety stemming from medical care. At Preston Sherry Dental Associates, we want to help you overcome the stress of needing dental care. Our team is compassionate and caring, taking the time to get to know you and your needs. Our office is designed to be comfortable and inviting to put you at ease. And for those who still have anxiety, we offer sedation dentistry to make it relaxing to get the dental treatments you need for optimum health and a beautiful smile.

Nitrous Oxide

For decades, nitrous oxide has provided a safe and effective option for dental patients that experience anxiety. Also referred to as “laughing gas,” this sedation option gives patients a feeling of relaxation and well-being during their dental treatments. Breathing the gas gives an almost immediate feeling of euphoria, while allowing you to stay awake and alert during your treatment. The effects quickly wear off once you stop inhaling the gas, making it an excellent choice for those that need to drive or be alert after their appointment.

Oral Conscious Sedation for Anxiety

Another option for patients that feel stressed or have anxiety when getting dental care is oral conscious sedation. This option involves taking a calming medication before your dental appointment to put you into a deeper state of relaxation. While you will usually remain awake during the treatment, you may not remember much from the time when you are under the medication.

At Preston Sherry Dental Associates, we are dedicated to making all of our patients feel comfortable and relaxed during their visits to our office. We know that dental anxiety can keep people from receiving the medical care they need to protect their oral and overall health, which is why we offer sedation dentistry options. Contact our office today to learn more about what we can do to reduce your anxiety when visiting us for your dental care.
