Get A Whiter Smile For Christmas!

Parties and pictures, time with your family. There are so many events this this time of year to show off your brilliant smile. But what if your smile isn’t that “brilliant?” If you can’t get in for a whitening treatment before the holidays, try a safe DIY hack.

  • An Old Standby: Mix 2 parts hydrogen peroxide to 1 part baking soda. Brush it onto your teeth and let it set for a minute or two, then rinse. While we don’t recommend this for repetitive use, it’s safe enough for once or twice a year.
  • Get your fruits in: Try eating a few strawberries or banana after enjoying your cup of coffee or glass of red wine. The fruity textures help reduce stain buildup over time. Either way, make sure you floss afterwards to remove any stray seeds or strings!
  • Coconut Oil: Some of the enzymes in coconut oil act as stain removers when they come in contact with your saliva. While we don’t recommend oil pulling instead of brushing and flossing, it can be used safely as a supplemental whitening procedure. It won’t work as well as a true whitening treatment, but some people find it’s moderately helpful.
  • Don’t use lemons or other citrus peels. We know you’ll find this tip on the interwebs, but rubbing it against your enamel will eat away at your tooth and is not safe to use.

Whether you’re worried about your holiday pictures or simply want a whiter smile for every day, Preston Sherry Dental Associates can help you. Our in-office whitening treatment will get your teeth whiter than any DIY can, and in just one day. Call to schedule your appointment.
